Also called Contorted Filbert. Marvellously twisty branches are particularly interesting in winter, after leaves have dropped - catkins remain for quite a while longer. Autumn colors are pleasant: the green turns to yellow. Slow-growing in full sun to partial shade. Grows to a height of 10 to 15'. with equal spread.

The flowering red currants are one of the joys of the Pacific Northwest spring. Before the leaves are formed, clusters of pendant dark red buds appear, slowly opening to bright red tubular flowers.
