Purple leaves crowned by "puffs" of feathery smoky pink blooms. Drought tolerant, ornamental small tree to large shrub. Best color in full sun & grows to 15'. A cultivar selected for its purplish foliage and inflorescence. The intensity of the purple coloration in the leaves fades somewhat to purplish green. Excellent tree with cascading branches and dark, bronze/purple/green foliage. Very similar to purple weeping beech but much more columnar in shape. Leaves turn more green throughout the summer. Grows to a height of 20-25' feet & 10-15' wide in full sun. Slow growing to 25-40', but usually smaller. It has a spreading habit, with elliptic, wavy edged leaves. Has purple leaves marked with white & pink. Foliage burns in hot sun or dry winds. This tree's bark is smooth & silvery. It looks very handsome contrasted with copper beech and evergreens. Grows slow to 10 ft, prefers sun to part shade. Leaves emerge deep green in spring & darkens to a deep purple or burgundy as season progresses. At times, foliage looks black it is so dark. Yellowish green flowers bloom in April-May. Male flowers appear in drooping, globular clusters & female flowers appear in short spikes. Makes a good small, garden tree, bearing purplish-brown fruit which ripens in June on old wood & often again in August on current year's wood. Provides dense shade. Locate where ripe fruit will not drop on patios,terraces or drives. Loves heat. Does not need pollination. Grows to 12' tall & 10' wide. Part Sun to Full Sun Evergreen small tree with spiny, dark green, lustrous leaves & gray bark. Seedless red berries borne in profusion are attractive in winter. Prefers acid soil. Male plants do not have berries as do some females. Grows to a height: 10-12 ft. & 6-8 ft. wide in sun to partial shade. Pyramid-shaped tree with aromatic, evergreen leaves & shiny gray bark. Generally, grows to 3-10' tall in culture. Clusters of small yellow flowers in spring followed on the female, by shiny black/purple berries. Grows best in partial shade. Bay's unique flavor is an essential ingredient in bouquet garni. Persian Parrotia is a beautiful tree with a symmetrical canopy and wonderful bark. The canopy forms a tight oval form and grows slowly in full sun or light shade. Up to 15 to 35 ft tall and wide. Dense clusters of tiny flowers with red stamens appear in spring. Grows 10-12 ft and 6-10 ft wide. Oval to roundish shaped with fernlike, medium to dark green wavy edged leaves that turn yellow in autumn. Can grow in full shade to full sun. Spineless, upright, deciduous, compact tree or shrub, grows to 6' tall & wide. Dark green leaves are slightly hairy, rounded, toothed & heart-shaped at the bases, 2-4" long. Deep red tubular flowers, 2-4" long & are followed by rounded, glaucous, black fruit, 1/4" across. Blooms early spring to late spring. Sun to Full Sun The flowering red currants are one of the joys of the Pacific Northwest spring. Before the leaves are formed, clusters of pendant dark red buds appear, slowly opening to bright red tubular flowers. This vigorous form has darker flowers with white centers. Grows to 8-10 ft. & as wide in sun to part shade; very attractive to hummingbirds. Spineless, upright, deciduous shrub. Dark green leaves are slightly hairy, rounded, 3 to 5 lobed, toothed and heart-shaped at the bases long. Deep red tubular flowers are held in pendant racemes followed by rounded, glaucous, black fruit, 1/4 in. across. Grows to a height of 4-12 ft. & 4-12 ft. wide in sun to full sun. Spineless, upright, deciduous, compact tree or shrub, grows to 6' tall & wide. Dark green leaves are slightly hairy, rounded, toothed & heart-shaped at the bases, 2-4" long. Deep red tubular flowers, 2-4" long & are followed by rounded, glaucous, black fruit, 1/4" across. Blooms early spring to late spring. Sun to Full Sun Dwarf contorted tree; an interesting specimen in winter & summer. Plant is unique in how it shapes its bumps & curves. Full size of 15 to 20' in height. The branches are a lovely charcoal gray & the leaves are a nice shade of green. Flower white clusters May - June. Yellow fall color. Attracts butterflies and hummingbirds. Grows in full sun. Medium size, re ground with deeper red stripes. Crisp, jucy, mildly tart white flesh. Hardy. Full sun.
